Friendly Little Critters: Probiotics are all pro and no con

Posted by:

good bacteriaProbiotics, as opposed to antibiotics, are a group of friendly bacteria which include Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidum bacterium. These bacteria help in fighting against evil yeast/candida overgrowth in our digestive tracts. Since they are human microflora, they are more compatible with our intestines than other nonhuman microflora (i.e. friendly bacteria found in yogurt).

Lactobacillus acidophilus breaks down sugar into lactic acid, and which kills yeast. ...

The Depression Coverup

Posted by:

depression Did you know that magnesium deficiency and yeast infection produce symptoms of anxiety or depression, including fatigue, insomnia, eye twitches, apprehension, nervous fits, light-headedness, hyperemotionality, palpitations, impaired breathing, confusion, anger, nervousness, rapid pulse, apathy, poor memory, etc? It has been documented that we could never get enough magnesium from diet alone, as the soil was depleted of that same mineral long ago. This makes ...

Cold Blooded Doctors

Posted by:

Doctors Did you know that the risk of being sued for malpractice has very little to do with how many mistakes a doctor makes? Studies of malpractice lawsuits have revealed that that there are highly skilled doctors who get sued a lot, and doctors who make lots of mistakes that never get sued. It seems that what makes the difference for a patient in deciding whether to file a suit is… ...

Muscle Your Way to Better Health

Posted by:

mancuernasThe more muscle you have, the higher your basal metabolic rate is, which means that you burn more calories during rest and burn more fat when your muscles are active. You can lose muscle mass either by dieting or by focusing mainly on cardio/aerobic exercise, which primarily burns sugar and protein as fuel sources – and leaves fat untouched.

Unfortunately, inflammation (Latin “inflammatio”, to set on fire!) is happening right now in our own bodies, too. Paraphrasing Leo Galland M.D., “Modern life has produced a relatively new condition known as ...

The risks of bronchodilator drugs

Posted by:

Most people with asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) are low in magnesium. When they are treated with simple magnesium supplementation, their symptoms improve. Bronchodilator drugs are prescribed for conditions such as asthma and other bronchial diseases, but many of these drugs cause loss of magnesium, making symptoms worse.

Recently in the news there was a study that addresses this problem where people are treated with drugs that don’t necessarily address the main cause:

Common Bronchodilator Drug Linked To Increased Deaths

Children of Violence: Abused Women, Abused Children

Posted by:

Imagine a world in which three to four million people are suddenly struck by a serious, recurring illness. There is chronic pain, trauma and injury. Authorities fail to draw any connection between individual bouts with the disease and the greater public threat. Many suffer in silence” -Joseph R. Biden, former chairman of the US Senate Judiciary Committee describing his own country, the United States of America; the “disease” is domestic violence.

It has been roughly estimated that 1 woman in 3 ...

On Injuries And Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

Posted by:

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is the lack of general psychological knowledge in the medical profession. When you are aiding in the healing process of a person, it is essential to have a handle on basic psychology, even if it is by self-education. It can be quite dehumanizing to focus on a medical career from the pathological-body point of view. For instance, consider a person that has been severely injured after a car accident. ...
